LE>Because they don't know the details. Both the E34F and M34F use the LE>Rockwell RC288DPi (R6682) V.34 datapump which is an integrated LE>DSP+ROM which implements most current ITU-T datacomms standards. I do recall several threads about a 'buggy' version of this datapump circulating a while back. When I was experiencing connection problems, I was asked by a Netcomm tech. rep. for my firmware version. On giving this info all I was told was "that's fine"...wouldn't tell me if there was better.... I've since found there is a known 'fault' which causes it to 'click' when it shouldn't :-) LE>The E34F uses a 10MHz 8-bit Rockwell C39 or C40 processor LE>It also uses Rockwell standard firmware with some minor NetComm LE>OEMization. LE>The M34F uses a 20MHz 16/32-bit Motorola MC68302FE processor LE>and it uses NetComm-proprietary firmware. Interesting! You seem familiar with the x34F's and there differences. From how you described the E34F, I can still see how the E34F would be described as a 'glue-n-go' modem ;-) I do recall when I purchased my E34F that the only thing of value the person on Netcomms sales line could tell me about the differences with the M34F, was the 8 vs. 16 bit uC! - I never did receive that info she was going to fax me :-) CMPQwk 1.42 1805 W [0M 䏀.
