You can try the standard ATIn commands. Start with ATI2 and work your way up 
to ATI9. If you get an error, just keep going to 9. Maybe one will help. 
Also, there's the fax and voice commands, assuming it's a fax/voice modem. 
AT+FMFR? , AT+FMDL? ,AT+FREV? , or AT#MFR? , AT#MDL? ,AT#REV?.
