North Carolina, as did many states, had several bomb threats called into
state and federal buildings after the OKC bombing.
Immediately after the bombing, federal buildings had parking stopped around
it. A letter was send to city councils of cities that have federal buildings
from a federal employee, requesting that cities prevent parking near these
buildings.
Our State Capital, Raleigh, has now enacted a city ordinace that repeals all
parking spaces near the federal building. There is also talk of removing a
mail box located outside the building so that "people won't have any reason
to mull around the building."
I believe that Greensboro and Wilmington is also going to follow this
request, although I have not confirmed such as yet.
