Hello, Bill.

I found that with a "web interface" my BBS had to deal with a lot
more of the "Internet trash", so I locked things down a little
more and et voila! I still get visitors but only those who can figure out
how to use a text-based interface actually can get in (and that's if I
decide to improve them).

If you want a web interface, there's Synchronet, WINServer, EleBBS, or
VADV-PHP (I'm not counting PCBoard's add-on web interface or any of the
"one off" BBS software packages like Bulletron). Otherwise
you'll just have to be forced to use a text-based package with something
like fTelnet or run phpBBS or some such. :)

As for the "hardcore BBSers" being gone, I'd not say that's
exactly true. I've had several younger people log on and create an
account, but due to their 1-second attention span because of their now
innate inability to do anything but point-and-click, they move on to
something that will keep their attention span such as Facebook. There are
a few that stick around and actually contribute.

Later,
Sean
