| subject: | SCSI Adapter Startup |
Howdy! Mark, I watch the screen when I turn the xp box on. Since I've added the SyQuest SCSI drive usually I will see the SCSI Adapter that came with it show 0 (Zero) is given to the SyQuest drive and the adapter always gets a 7. I panic when I see an extra SCSI device number in the start up list and hold the power button until the lights go out, then I turn it on again. What I see is like this: 0 SyQuest drive 1 7 Adapter Card I see this extra device number show up once a week at least, when the xp box is turned on. I can't recall what name is shown along side #1. The second time I turn the box on I see just the 0 and 7 numbers. The HP SCSI Scanner I used on my 486 came with a card that I plugged in to a 8 bit slot. I can only remember that the scanner was device #2. I never noticed it trying to access a additional device number like I'm seeing since I started using the SCSI drive. Is there any place on the internet that You can give me to learn about SCSI stuff? Off the top of my head I think the Adapter is made by Advance. Thanks. ...
