HG>In a message dated 06-04-15, Sean Dennis said to Holger Granholm:

HG>GM Sean,

HG>SD> I can barely hear anything because of the noise floor, but like I
HG>SD> said, I'm hoping running a vertical will help that some.

HG>I doubt a vertical will be of much help against the local noise level
HG>but I'll be glad to hear the opposite.

HG>A really effective weapon against such QRM is a loop antenna but OTOH
HG>they are very inefficient radiators.

HG>CU AGN, Sam, OH0NC

HG>aka Holger

since some Hams use far more power then necessary they would never
notive the inefficency.
An example is a small emergency net for a church I used to participate o
nin the 2 meter band. I donated a moble rig and a modified car starting
pack as a power supply and told then that low power on the mobile was
all that was necessary foir the net but some operators insisted on using
high power.
which totaly defeated my design parameters for the battery pack.
Using typical transmit to revieve ratios the power pack would be good
for 24 hours using low power.
