Howdy! Mark,

The Adapter Card is a Advansys SCSI Host Adapter.

O.K., I will try that when ever I see it happen again.
This time I saw the usual 0 and 7 when the XP box came out of
hibernation.

EV> The second time I turn the box on I see just the 0 and 7 numbers.

Nope, I was only mentioning the only other experience I've had with a
8 Bit SCSI Adapter that HP included with the 4c scanner that I had
on the motherboard of the 486DX33, not this XP box.
Sorry for the confusion.

EV> I can only remember that the scanner was device #2.

#2 was the number given to the HP 4c when I was using it on the 486.

EV> Is there any place on the internet that You can give me to learn about

What would cause a extra device number to appear sometimes on the
Advansys card display of devices when I'm booting the XP box?????????

EV> Off the top of my head I think the Adapter is made by Advance.
 EV> Thanks.

I was close enuf on the name, wasn't I?
I know close is not enough as far as a computer is concerned, One
Misplaced BIT and BANG!!!!!!!!!! Nothing works.

ml> ok and no problem :)

EV> ... Its a fine line between fishing and standing still

ml> i've got one similar to that... it says "sitting" instead of
 ml> "standing" ;)

The Virtual Clone Drive software also shows up with the Advansys SCSI
card when I looked at the Hardware Manager.
And that "Drive" isn't mentioned when I am looking at the screen when
I start this computer.
I see it in Windows Explorer, that's all.

I could Remove the Virtual Clone Drive since I never have found any
need for it.
It was just one of those utilities I heard about the first year or two
that I had this XP box, that I thought that I might need.......

... Have you checked your smoke detector batteries & Fire Ext, LATELY?!
