One of the worst smnells on the planet, to me -- but not as bad as my neighbour apparently burning a 20-year-old rotted sturgeon corpse in her oven! (I could onlysurmise this was the meal, given the stench)

I can't even put it into my mouth -- just knowing it'll hit & how my tate buds will revolt is enough to make me work, hard to force my vomit urges down over & over. . .

That was mine, too, but in m y formative years, learning obedience, I refused tyo eat some thing (sweet potatoes) & was sent ot my room hunmgry to bed at that moment. I came down fr breakfast & there was my meal from the night bhefore, at my place at the kitchen nook's table, still chilled from the fridge.

My mom worked hard to make that meal & I'm going to get no other food until I eat it.

I would simply tell the host, "I'm sorry; I'm sure it's good, but I just can't eat it; I don't getr anaphylaxis, so it's not technically amn allergy -- more a severe food intolerance." (only if they insist on quizzing me)

That generally stops the offense.

I'm an adult; I eat what I like & I like what I eat.

My wife cooks & I eat it, but she knows my intolerances & cooks accordingly, so it's all good(VERY good, actially)! (plus I need to set the example for my son)

She was happy with me for that, as her exes never did so -- complain, complain, complain. . .

I asked why she kept cooking -- I'd've stopped after just one rudely presented display of attitude.

I do the cooking on ocdcasion, but I take into account everyone's preferences & try not to stretch the envelope to much. . . I've negotiated to be able to add mild to medium spiciness to certain dishes (I like my skillet lasagna to have a bit of a 'kick'!)
