-=> Ed Vance wrote to Holger Granholm <=- EV> The UPS has a ON/OFF button on it. Just because there's an on/off button doesn't mean you should use it. The only reason you should -ever- use that button is if you are going to physically relocate the box somewhere. Otherwise, don't do use it! An UPS is designed to constantly draw a little power to charge the battery which means even when your UPS is off, the devices connected to it, even if they're off, are still siphoning a little power from the UPS battery which means that if you leave it off for any amount of time, the battery will not be at its full charge which could affect the devices connected to it or it will kill the battery completely after a while. They don't call it "uninterruptible" for nuttin'. Don't use that button on a daily basis. The UPS needs to be on at all times to make sure it's working correctly. Otherwise, you might as well plug in your devices to a surge-protected power strip and save your money.
