subject: SCSI Adapter Startup

26 May 15 21:38, you wrote to me:

EV> I panic when I see an extra SCSI device number in the start up list and

EV> What I see is like this:

 EV> 0 SyQuest drive
 EV> 1
 EV> 7 Adapter Card

EV> I see this extra device number show up once a week at least, when the

EV> I can't recall what name is shown along side #1.

try hitting your PAUSE key on your keyboard to freeze the display so you
can look at it and write it down...

EV> The second time I turn the box on I see just the 0 and 7 numbers.

EV> The HP SCSI Scanner I used on my 486 came with a card that I plugged in
 EV> to a 8 bit slot.

is that the above listed Adapter Card?

EV> I can only remember that the scanner was device #2.
EV> I never noticed it trying to access a additional device number like I'm
EV> seeing since I started using the SCSI drive.

it may not try to access it at all until you go to use whatever device it may be...

EV> Is there any place on the internet that You can give me to learn about
 EV> SCSI stuff?

i'm sure there is but i don't know of anything off the top... what do you
want to learn about it?

EV> Off the top of my head I think the Adapter is made by Advance.
 EV> Thanks.

ok and no problem :)

EV> ... Its a fine line between fishing and standing still

"standing" ;)
