I think the max of age 40 is with no prior service. I do know the Navy will
accept 50 + year olds with prior service and a specialty. Had a cousin who
was an enlisted during WWII join the Navy in the early 80's. He got tired
of Cheshire Conn and had the Navy move him to San Diego - MD ,Psycharist.
Some of what little I've read was dealing with education etc but don't know
that much about how valid it really is.

I thought last years were revised downward from the year before.
I know that I feel really sorry for anyone serving as a recruiter from the
stories I've read. And I personally would encourage military
service, wish that I had served, I've worked with a lot of good retired
military people.
I'm just a wee bit leery of 'good news' , seen too many cases where it was
either a comparison of apples and oranges or intentionally misleading.
