Hmmm.... the ones from employers also get you discounts at any Disney Store
and the stores at Disneyworld and Disneyland (actually all the theme parks
worldwide). You also get the same 10% discount. You also get the same
ravel
packages for trips. The deluxe package you mention is also available to the
standard MKC cards from employers.
The only advantage that I see to the card is if you are unable to get the
regular card from your employer or credit union... it gives you the
opportunity to purchase the same benefits and get a "slightly" upgraded
magazine that is for "gold card" members only.
I have worked for Disney for 12 years as an independant contractor, and for
other employers. I have had both the regular MKC card, and one time I was
"stupid" enough to fork over the funds to purchase the "Gold Card"... and I
found out that I did not get anything additional.
I would recommend to those who have employers or credit unions and can get
he
regular MKC card... please read your membership book in detail. You will
ind
all of the same benefits as the "gold card" and save yourself the money.
There are also other benefits available. Also, fill out the registration
portion of your membership card and send it in... that way you will get your
magazine and your mailings about the travel specials that Carol mentioned
above.
Like I said, the regular MKC card and the "gold card" are virtually
dentical,
the only difference is that the "gold card" is for people who can not get the
free card because their employer or credit union does not offer it (just have
your "benefits" person at work write to either WDW or Disneyland's Guest
Relations office on "official company letterhead" requesting to be a part of
the MKC program... it does not cost anything except the time to write the
letter, the cost of the letterhead, and a stamp).
Hope this helps,
John
