In response to Shawn's question about going off axis with a 4 inch F15
mirror, the distortions would be the same as a spherical mirror of about 11
inch aperture with a 60 inch FL or F/5 approximately. You must tilt the 4
inch mirror as if it were a part of a larger mirror with the diagonal
placed on the larger mirror's axis. An interesting note, this was the
design platform for the original Maksutov with the corrector as a sub
diameter portion of the large mirror. Very do-able as long as you mark your
wedge position and have a good mike that reads to 0.0001. The design was
published in either vol.2 or vol.3 of the ATM books.
