Since May 14, 2005 I have tried many many times to update Adobe Flash
Player and failed each time, so I thought I'd ask if anyone else is
experiencing the same problem I've having with my XP box.

I use Firefox with NoScript.

After several failures I also tried using IE8 and experienced failure
there too when I was updating Flash Player.

After unchecking the McAfee box while using FF to download the small
install file, and seeing the download finish, I go to the directory
the file is in and right click on it to RunAs... as a Administrator,
and see the Adobe Flash Player Installer window open.

When the Adobe "Flash Player: downloading" time line gets to +/- 44%
and "IT" then says "the installation has failed".

The version of Flash on this pc that I'm trying to get is 17 ? ? 188 .

At first I thought it was the Firewall Software that I use causing the
troubles, because everytime it asked to OK Adobe Download Manager I
was clicking the Yes button but I didn't check the checkbox to keep the
setting permanent.

My Firewall is FortKnox.
I have used it for a long time but now I get messages saying I should
Register it, I went to that page and saw it wanted me to now become a
paying user of the software.

If that is causing the problem with Flash Player not updating I will
start using one of the various FREE Firewalls that I can download.

For the past several days I've checked that checkbox and the same thing
shows up that the installation has failed.

Am I alone?    Thanks In Adbvance!
