Hi Jim...
-> Define "miracle". (As opposed to "coincidence".)
I'll sure glad you put that there or I'd have had a big job ahead of
me. I don't feel that I've encountered miracles myself, so 'miracle'
has no special meaning for me, but I know that it has a very special
meaning for some people. I would not want to argue with anyone who felt
they had experienced a miracle. It would not be for me to judge.
OTOH, the word 'miracle' also gets used very lightly. The local TV
station calls every accident a 'miracle' so long as someone survived. If
someone does die, that's a 'tragedy'. If they're getting desperate for
a hook, they look for some coincidence in the events, no matter how
irrelevant, and call that 'ironic'. ('Ironically, the driver of bus 53
had himself just had his 53rd birthday.')
-> Actually, I think it's a "miracle" I am still alive the way I (and
-> the medical profession) have "abused" my body.
I'll bet it was more fun when you were doing the abusing than when they
were. ;-)
