That was a long time ago.
After that happened I quit using power from that outlet except for the
room lamp, and routed a extension cable from the UPS to that gear.
Most of my computer gear gets power from that UPS.
The battery in the one I have now can be replaced.
My first two units didn't have a door on them to do that.
So After the second one died I spent a little more to get a UPS with
a replaceable battery.
Tripp-Lite is the brand I like to buy.
