Since there is no work to be done (ie: no packet or bundle in your inbound). Although, when you DO invoke it manually.. try tailing your hpt.log and see that it is indeed actually doing *something*, as in looking for a packet or bundle in your inbound, and then when it doesn't find anything there, it stops.
