 Well, tax preparation software is somewhat unique, in that a new
 version is required each year, that incorporates changes in tax law,
 etc.  Additionally, there must be a web site that provides the
 most current updates, as well as a vehicle for filing the returns
 electronically.

 That pretty much limits such products to commercial status.  Still,
 it's significantly less costly than going to a commercial tax
 preparer.
