I'm having some difficulties getting MS VC++ to compile a simple console
mode program, that's listed on the "Read this first; Quick Start for
Visual C++ Standard Edition 4.0".
When I get to the part...
15. From the build menu, choose Build Hello.exe
I recieve an error something like \LIB\OLDNAME bad format.
Does anybody know why I'm getting that error? I'm running VC via CD-
install.
I can compile the first page's sample via MFC AppWizard, without
difficulties.
BTW, I can go to the dos prompt and run LINK hello and it will link
without the errors and the program will execute.
Basically, the IDE will not allow me to build a console app, without
getting that error message. It seems strange that the library
OLDNAME.LIB would be bad, since it's on the \MSCDEV\LIB directory on CD.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
