There is a very good, but basic, article on sound insulation and
isolation in theis months Home Theater Mag. Actually, it offers some pretty
good suggestions on listening room treatments.
Although it is far too early to tell what will happen. My plans now
are to build a home rather than buy an existing one, and use the sandwiched
panels I spoke of for a listening room and for a "secure" area of the home
interior for security...but that is another subject. For both apps the sound
insulation properties are excellent for the extra money involved. With the
addition of a second regular type drywall - wall, with the studs completely
separated from the panels by a mere 1 inch, the payback is suppose to be
almost total soundproofing. That is quite a claim, so it would be interesting
to test.
After all the experimenting and treatments of my existing area, it
would seem very strange to be in a genuinely quiet room with my equipment set
up exactly as it should be. My luck I would find all my equipment stinks and
I'll have to start all over.......8-)
Cheers,
John
