Everything is relative... I give you credit for researching stories more
thoroughly than many here, but acknowledge your bias towards the US
leadership and the military in particular.

It was a joke, George. "You should have been a diplomat" is a
common thing to say to someone who's just said something particularly well
phrased. It's a very long standing convention here that if you're posting
in an official or work related capacity that you say so and add an
appropriate disclaimer if required(*). If you don't, you're assumed to be
posting as a private individual and your statements in no way reflect your
official position.
I've assumed all along that you are posting as a private individual, hence
I felt free to joke about it. I should have added a smiley to the post, I
tend to forget because I have a dry, understated sense of humour and to me
the humour is obvious enough without adding a laugh track.
(*) Something that Rich S. hasn't been too mindful of in the past.
