| subject: | Netcomm Roadster worth buying? |
Hi Poe, IS> Unless of course USR changed the modem to keep the stats after ATZ, IS> which was also being asked of them at one stage? PL> Not that I know of; might be Bink. I have to admit I PL> haven't changed my setup in any drastic way for several PL> years now... On seeing Bill's message, and after replying, I thought I'd best check it out. In the DOS version of 2.60 at least, there's been no change to that behaviour; here's a dump of my buffers after a call, first the transmit buffer (7 bit): EEDA #G "EEDA #G "EEDA #G "EEDA #G "EEDA #G "EEDA #G "EEDA #G "EEDA #G "EEDA ATZ0 AT&E1*E0M0 ATKS69? ATZ0 AT&B1 That's Janus disconnect handshake packets, followed by PreInit (ATZ0, after a DTR toggle) then Init (AT&E1*E0M0) to hangup, followed by AfterCall (ATKS69?), then PreInit followed by Busy (exiting to process received mail). Here's the corresponding receive buffer stream (extra line spacing removed): #G "EEDA #G "EEDA #G "EEDA #G "EEDA #G "EEDA NO CARRIER <-- DTR drop on PreInit OK <-- ATZ0 OK <-- AT&E1*E0M0 000:36 <-- ATK (time online since carrier detect) 007 <-- S69? (line quality, out of 7) OK <-- following the above. OK <-- ATZ0 OK <-- AT&B1 (makebusy / offhook) MAKEBUSY <-- response to same.
