He is lucky the vehicle didn't end up being a car-be-que. :)

ABout 3 years ago (right before I got the new engine for my 02 Monte) my
fuel pressure regulator started a slow leak. I remember it was around
Christmas and cold outside. I was in the parking lot of a store and
smelled gas. Opened the hood and saw a bit of gas leaking from my pressure
regulator. Needless to say, I got it replaced the next day. It was
replaced again when I got my new engine.

I still need to replace my fuel pump at some point to fix the float/gas
guage. Not an emergency project. I'm just happy that won't involve
dropping the tank. Just have to make sure all fittings are secure.
