As far as I have been told - the reason it jumps from 28,800 to 26,000
etc.. is due to incompatiblities between your modem and that of the BBS!  I
have a couple of friends who connect to a multinode BBS and the modem on
node 1 will not let THEIR modem run at 28,800 but others can!  This is what
I think the problem is!
