I hate to break it to you, but not wanting competition has nothing to do
with it. If Cancall didn't pay their bills, then they don't get service.
That same policy holds true for ANY cellular phone subscriber. Don't pay
your bill, and you get your service cut.
In the market where I sell Bell Atlantic NYNEX, there are several
resellers of cellular service. Some use Bell Atlantic, some use AT&T.
Most of them cater to people who's credit is so bad that they can't get
service directly from either carrier without a security deposit.
Whenever I do a competitive bill analysis on any business that uses any
of the resellers, I can ALWAYS show them a substantial savings if they
switch to getting service directly from BANM. Trouble is, I often can't
get them approved for service.
