Yeah I used to run a single node dial-up BBS back then using VBBS and intermail and gecho to get my fido feed, when telnet bbses started back then I had just joined Cyber3dnet and was in their Bre league, unfortunately back then there wasn't an front-end mailer capable of telnet transfers so I had to set up FTP transfers, it worked really good and we had travel times in the minutes. Yes back then there were a lot of players that took BRE seriously, the more addicted ones would actually fight over it. But that was back when every bbs had only local users basically so the people in the BRE game with you were neighbors and friends. That's the one thing I miss about the old dial-up days, is that feeling of family that used to be there. I mean you still get it now, but it's not the same cus with telnet you can make friends with say someone in a different country and not be able to just pop over to his house and see him when you want. - Timothy Cornett - Deep Space 69 BBS - telnet://nwebt.com ...
