I like 4 pound test for castibility. Most of the fish I catch are
under 1 pound. It really depends on what I'm fishing for. For panfish
or perch 4 pound test is good. My other reel has 12 pound test and I
use that for bass, pike and catfish.
With light tackle my plan is to wear the fish out, then work it to
 the surface.
I like light tackle because it casts further, it helps me be stealthy.
The fish don't know I'm there. That's why I get so annoyed at snags.
Snags tell all the fish in the area that someone is there.
