subject: Quiet

Believe it or not my children went to bed 10 minutes ago and things are
quiet. How I love the silence. Even my husband is sleeping. Sometimes
thats good too. I went to the library Julie and could not find the book
you suggested. I am low on funds, but will be looking for the book in
the book stores. I could try another library. Well I took out 3 books
on ADHD and saw my kids. I read some of the things to my kids and they
kinda decided to diagnose themselves. It was fun, except Jeremy's attention
span only lasts about 7 minutes and out the door he was. I already read
all the books. Some chapters on adult ADD I didn't read. Even though I
have it I pretty much worked with myself where most people don't see any
of the symptoms anymore. Of course, now I have started with panic attacks
in the car. I guess next time I go to the doctor I will have to get some-
thing myself for this. Kids were not too bad today, I got a break. Jona-
thon still isn't doing his homework. He forgets to bring things home. I
suggested to the teacher to write a list on his desk on how to collect
homework, so what does she do----------she keeps him in at recess to do
his work. No list. He already makes a list everyday on what homework to
take home, but if for example it reading, he will bring home reading but
not the workbook or bring home the workbook and not the reading. Or maybe
bring both of those home, but not the paper has already started and needs
to finish. Drives me and the teacher nuts. Except, I understand and know
he isn't thinking of the consequences. She doesn't seem to listen to that.
I told her consequences have to be immediate. Now she did that by keeping
him in at recess, but I really believe he needs a list to help him think
of all the things he will need to get for every subject he has homework in.
This list only needs to help him slow down when he gathers it. That will
do it. As he looks at the list he will be able to think of each subject
and look at it if necessary to grab what he needs. Oh well, good thing
I am going to homeschool. I will work on getting him responsible 24 hrs
a day instead of just part of the day. And homework will be given after
other important problems are resolved. Hope things are quiet on the home
front for ya all tonite too.
