subject: Help with NetComm and Wi

KM>Hi all

KM>I have a NetComm SmartModem V.32 (9600) M5 - I am using Windows 95.
KM>My problem is that when I run EzyCom (my BBS software) under
 KB> Windows
KM>95 it will not initialise the modem no matter what init string I
 KB> use.
KM>If I run Telix for DOS and let it init the modem I can then run
KM>EzyCom no probs. If I run EzyCom (without running Telix) in DOS
 KB> mode
KM>it works fine.

 KB> Hello Ken,

KB> I have a NetComm E11F modem and I have similar problems. When I use
KB> Telix for DOS it is initialised OK and works well, when I use
KB> Hyperterminal in Windoze 95 the modem is also initialised and works
KB> well, however when I try to connect to the MPCUG Internet service the
KB> Internet dialler returns a message that the Modem is not responding
 KB> and
KB> that I should turn it of, then back on again and retry. This does NOT
KB> work, the only way I can get it to work is to select MODEMS in Control
KB> panel then select diagnostics, the modem is then interrogated, it
KB> returns the settings of various registers etc., then I can dial the
KB> Internet. If there is a busy line and I cannot get through I usually
KB> have to go through the same procedure before I can redail, but not
KB> always, about 90% of the time I have to.

KB> I put this to the gurus at PC World on Line and they report it is a
KB> known bug in Windoze 95.

KB> I know this does not help you but it may explain your problem.

 KB> Ken

 KB> X CMPQwk 1.42 456 XI am Pentium of Borg...division is Futile...you
 KB> will be Approximated

It may help cauz I don't have the problem when not starting Win95 if I
run in DOS mode, it only happens under Win95

Perhaps Microsoft hold the key!
