Hi Maryann, this is Mary's mother, Marie. We are both aware that ADD
and ADHD is genetic. I had 3 sons that were diagnosed as "Hyperactive".
They were a handful. I had 8 children altogether so I really had my
hands full. But somehow I made it through, mostly sane....:) Today I
am sure my boys would be considered ADHD or ADD children. My one son
Rocco, still rocks himself to sleep. He is 30 years old... My oldest,
William, still has a hard time concentrating on things. My other son,
Vincent, just leaves and travels when things get tough. They still have
some of the symptoms. None of them have ever been on medicine. I may
have been a bit hyper myself. My mother said I never sat still and that
I *never* shut up... I still talk a lot. But medicines work backwards
on me so I just handle things as best I can. I have since learned to sit
still, at least, but my foot is usually tapping or swinging....:)
I understand what Mary is going through and help as much as I can. We
live next door to one another so she can call me whenever she needs to.
Joey has improved on his medicine but he can still be a little over
aggressive at times. His sister copies some of his behavior. She is
being tested to see if she is ADD.
So we realize that the new baby may be another ADHD child. But this time
we will know what to do and take him/her to the doctor right away.
Marie
... I am a mental tourist, my mind wanders.
