Ed,

EV> DS> . OLX 1.53 . Why give the airport weather?? No one lives
EV> DS> there.

EV>The WX conditions at the airport is very important to the pilots who
EV>bring travelers to and from the airport.

This is true. The Little Rock National Airport is next to the Arkansas
River, and when we get fog, it's made thicker by the proximity to the
river. I think they have to have 100 feet of ceiling and a half mile of
visibility, to take off or land. Otherwise, they're rerouted, they
circle the field, or are stuck on the tarmac.

EV>It also is handy for the next shift of weathermen who are preparing to
EV>come to work to know the conditions at the airport.

They issue Terminal Forecasts (FT's), and used to issued Transcribed
Weather Broadcasts (TWEB's). But, all pilots are recommended (if not
required) to get a full weather briefing, prior to departure.

EV>I notice that the WX Radio Broadcasts that I listen to has the
EV>Conditions at both of the local airports in its hourly broadcasts.

During severe weather in central Arkansas, NOAA Weather Radio only
gives the conditions at the Little Rock National Airport, and at the
North Little Rock Airport, where the National Weather Service office is
located. All other observations are ignored, as it were. But, another
thing I've noticed is that during severe weather, the weather radio
broadcast cycle will get STUCK on one item...even if there are things
like Tornado, Severe Thunderstorm, and Flash Flood Warnings in effect.

EV>Sometimes there is a slight difference given for the Temperature, Wind
EV>or the Air Pressure at the two airports.

That is true between Little Rock and North Little Rock. I think
they're only 5 miles apart as the crow flies, but they have a difference
in elevation. Some nights, the temperature contrast can be as much as 15
degrees!!

EV>I notice sometimes the computerized voice that I hear on the WX
EV>Broadcasts will mis-pronounce some of the words entered in its Data
EV>Bank.

It's how the program the software.

EV>Do You hear any mispronounced words when You listen to the WX Broadcast
EV>on Your WX Radio there?

Yes, especially with some of the cities that are in Arkansas.
