If you run under Windows, screen updates are smoother and appear
faster if you use full-screen rather than window mode.
It could also be a connection at a slow speed.  When you get
connected, what speed does Qmodem report in the message box?  What
speed does the BBS report during sign-on?  That could be because you
somehow changed the default modem type to a 2400 of 9600 model.
Does it happen on more than one BBS?  If it's on only one, maybe the
two modems "agree" on a slower speed during the handshaking process.
Or the phone number you dial is for slower modems.
Are you tallking about U/L and D/L?  Maybe you're getting noisy
lines that cause errors.
Was it ever faster on the same computer?  What did you change between
then and now?
