Hello, everyone,
I have just acquired a pair of Plum Heads (male and female) and would
appreciate any advice on caring for them.
They are banded adults, at least 6 years old. They appear to be in
good health, despite less than ideal care from their previous owner.
They were quite calm, though interested, when I viewed them, and will
be delivered to my place in the next couple of days.
Their previous owner kept them in a wire cage of about 3 cu. ft.
volume. She apparently fed them mixed seed only. If I keep them (I may
pass them on to a fine local breeding aviary) I intend to make a larger
cage, about 2 x 3 x 3 ft., and s-l-o-w-l-y start supplementing their seed
diet with fruit, bugs, bread and milk, and perhaps veggies- see what
they like. (These suggestions from Low's book).
Your suggestions would be much appreciated. By the way, this is
one of the most information-dense echos I have had the pleasure of
tapping.
Till later,
Holly
... ARRRRRGGGHHH!!!! ... Tension breaker, had to be done.
