I never heard of polishing with 5 micron.   Normally you grind with that
stuff.

Just before you bought that felt, a store clerk dropped it on the floor
where a kid had tracked in mud from the local #60 silicon carbide mine.

If you think felt polishes good, you should try pitch.   I am in the middle
of two 9 inchers, and I consider the 4 hours I did on felt to be a waste of
time.  The best thing you can do to speed up polishing is an extra hour of
GRINDING with 5 micron grit.
