DJ> PL> Wouldn't it work better if the Patrol Leaders' Council planned the
DJ> PL> meetings, and had the senior Scouts teach the classes?
DJ> Yes, except the scoutmaster frowns upon the PLC...he prefers to run it
DJ> his way.
DJ> PL> The adults aren't there to run the programme for the Scouts.
hey're
DJ> PL> there to teach the Scouts how to run their own programme.
DJ> Yeah, well that's not the way it works in our troop.
DJ> PL> And discipline should come from within the troop itself. Peer
DJ> PL> pressure can be good for that.
DJ> Youth are not aloud to administer discipline in our group.
Are you sure you wouldn't be more comfortable in another troop, then?
I think that I can suspect where the problems in your troop are coming
from.
Either that, or have a talk with your Scoutmaster. Maybe in your next
Scoutmaster Conference or Board of Review; these exist as a sort of
'quality check' on the troop. If you have problems, these would seem
to be good opportunties to point them out.
Or encourage your leaders to take training, if they haven't done so
yet.
I think that you should talk to people in other troops and see how
they do things..
