Hi again Phil,
In response to a later message seen here this AM:
-> outside sources. I'm not sure what difference the high surface area
-> would do but I've been told that this is the best.
Just in case the AC theory of skin effect comes into play on audio,
small strands making a mondo welding type cable is normally prefered
for audio. Solid conductors, particularly in portable systems, don't
like to lay down and behave, usually being used for run and leave for
years kind of runs.
Regarding skin effect at audio frequencys... seems that the power folks
are somewhat concerned with it, and they only make 60Hz, so it is quite
possible that higher frequencies could be more profound in effects. I've
heard "experts" of audio say that skin effect is only for much higher
frequencies.. to me, the jury is still out on this one. I find reason to
lean both directions on this topic. This has also periodically been a
topic of discussion here.
