No. All the fopen() function does is to associate a file pointer
structure with a file name and keep tabs on where you are in the file. You
have to use the pointer to fread(), fwrite() and fclose() to be able to do
anything with the contents of the file, and you have to use a buffer to
store any transactions. C has been in use for 25 years, so it's not exactly
the latest technology.
