| subject: | Polymorphism ? |
Yesterday I was asked to give a simple definition of polymorphism. Does such a thing exist? Things that change at runtime possibly? Does the STL exhibit polymorphism? Is operator overloading a form of polymorphism? Can the term "polymorphism" be applied equally (and correctly) to variables, operators and function names? Is there anything else to which the term "polymorphism" has been applied? I tried doing an internet search on the phrase "definition of polymorphism" last evening. I received back two million hits. The first five had four completely different interpretations. Can anyone tell me a definitive and authoritative (and possibly verifiable) source that I can use? The last four words are the key to that sentence. þ CMPQwk 1.42 999 --- Maximus/2 3.01* Origin: COMM Port OS/2 juge.com 204.89.247.1 (281) 980-9671 (1:106/2000) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 106/2000 633/267 |
