Last time this came up, I asked people to netmail me about it. Only a
dozen or so did, but the consensus appeared to support my own feeling that
stats posted for genuine reasons of measuring connectivity, performance,
line conditions, etc, were or at least could be helpful indicators, but
that some people's posting and/or quoting of reams of unedited stats was
boring.

AA> I don't know who the moderator of this area is offhand but

 AA> stats postings off topic.

Where genuinely useful and informative, to many or one, I wouldn't dream of
it. Anything directly to do with modems is on-topic here (and anything
that isn't, isn't). The only other rules are friendly, lawful and
non-commercial.

I again ask people posting stats to please consider others, and to trim the
content down to whatever is immediately relevant to the point you're
making.

Certainly dumping several K of stats in here gratuitously, or repeatedly,
without making any obvious point is likely to annoy more of us, sooner. I
would encourage anyone who's annoyed to NETMAIL the poster concerned, or
myself if you'd rather not, rather than pursue the matter in here.

AA> Surely those discussions would be more appropriate in USR_MODEMS.

One USR owner suggested that recently. It really depends on topicality at
the time, especially regarding connectivity with other types of modems.
Blanket rulings are useless; all we can do is appeal to people to maintain
the quality and amenity of this echo for the users of ALL types and brands
of modems.

AA> Not everyone owns or wants to own a USR.

Yes, it's a bit offputting when every question is answered with a chorus of
'get a Courier' - especially from people with even subtle vested interests.

Ian (moderator .. now you know who to netmail with your further concerns :)
