FR> I think I remember the Norths from a radio program--never did read
FR> any of the novels--don't think I even knew there were novels
FR> featuring them at the time. Must be back in the late 40s or early
FR> 50s. The Norths were middleclass types in comparison to the high
FR> society Charles. Think they had a dog too--a mutt if I'm not
FR> mistaken.
In the books they have a cat. Well, more than one, as the stories span
quite a time frame. No more than one at a time in any I've read so far,
but I'm only a little way into them. I just got hooked on them this
year. Wanted to read them in order, but couldn't find the second one
so I've skipped a bit.
I loved the scene where she was trying to make butter from table cream,
because they'd run out of butter coupons during rationing. Reminded me
of the time my sister and I tried to make butter. ;)
... If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side.
