subject: The word Brig

Howdy! Joe and All,

Years ago for an extra price, you could get a Glass Drinking Glass
that had a handle (a Mug) when buying a Soft Drink at the restaurant.

The Glass had a picture of a old Sailing Vessels on one side of it
and on the reverse side there were some words Describing that type
of Ship.

One of the Glass Mugs I have shows a Ship called a "Brig", and says
something about that type of Ship was used to transport cargo, and
it also was used by Pirates.

I am wondering why Navy Ships used the word "Brig" for a space
that has Jail Cells, and thought to ask here about it.

Thanks.
