  Hollywood used to take a big selling novel and adapt it for the screen
and along the way change a lot and at times only the title was the only thing
to do with the book.
  They did that a lot with biography movies.  Add characters and plots.
  There was movie adapted from an autobiography in the '40s.  The author
was asked what he thought of the movie.  He replied it was interesting, whose
life was it about?  :)
