My local ISP has fibre optics to his door and 90 lines out with 28800 modems

on all of them.



I once downloaded an 18k that took 20 minutes to finish. And the

V34man.txt file (355064bytes) took 2.5 hours.



Yes, I'm impressed with the speed of fibre optics as well
