G'day John!

 SL> This is how a CONNECT message looks with "S95=47" (also
"W2 \V1 %U2")...

 JP> Are you saying that (S95=47) == (W2 + \V1 + %U2) here?

No, I'm saying that I had "W2 \V1 %U2" in addition to
"S95=47".  This can
make a difference as the "/LAP-M/V.42bis/V.FC" will not appear if you only
have "\V0 %U0" (defaults) set - instead you'll only get "/REL".

Also, if you have "W0" or "W1" set and
"S95=46" the CONNECT message will
show the DTE speed not the DCE speed.

There's been a bit of a shake-up here so I don't know if you got my other
message about this.

 JP> From what I've heard, there are two varieties of
 JP> M11F: one is NOT a generic Rockwell, while the other is. I don't know

I don't know where you heard this story!! Apart from bugs ;-) all the M11Fs
were the same - Series 5, Rockwell datapump, 1 MegaBit Flash ROM for NetComm
SmartModem firmware and a top DTE speed of 115200 bps.

 JP> which of the two I have here, but whatever the case, I don't think I
 JP> can achieve a V.FC result code.

I spoke to NetComm and they confirmed what I had
suspected; that the "/V.FC" suffix is only appended on V.34 models and even
though it is included in the "V7" SmartModem code it isn't used
by the M11F.

 JP> Since one of the people I work for designed most of the M11F's code, I
 JP> think I will ask him whether or not the modem I have is capable

It's not! That's the "official" work from Osman at NetComm. BTW *who* is
this person you work for who designed the M11F code?
