   Hello all,

    I have been working on 2 mirrors both 5/8", one 9" and one
10". At this
time I have been polishing
my 9" glass with my tool with a felt covering that has been
"spray mounted to the surface and sides of
the tool. I have been using CEO polish and using the same strokes as if it
were a pitch lap.
        I have 4 hours of polish on the surface and I can barely see the
surface with the flashlite test. Now before you all get in an uproar, I
have made my pitchlap which will await the final smoothing and
figuring...     I have a question....  If I impregnat my lap with CEO does
this mean I can't use red rouge
to do my final figure??? Will the CEO some how mess up the fine cut of the rouge??
   I am very pleased with the speed of the felt cover on the tool to polish.
I know the surface is kinda
goofy at this point but as everyone knows pitch is messy and a pain in the
ass, and  I am willing to
delay working with it as long as possible.
          I also have made some pre-Ronchi readings. These were very
strange, as expected, since
the glass is moving around and the polish is incomplete. But I came across
some things that I need
to ask about.
        My rig is using an LED for a light source. I have placed frosted
plastic in front to dispurse light. I have made a slit with two razor
blades and have three Ronchi screens  50 line? (homemade mono-
filament)  80 line, and 150 line Photoplastic(Willmann Bell).
        My rig has  in and out of ROC adjustment (1/4x20 thread)  I get real
nice images and soon will add
a knife edge to the rig.
Now my question ..... While comming into the ROC the image looked very
close to a foucault image..
Is this because of the slit and ronchi line imitating a knike edge???
        The mirror is not all the way polished out yet but the center looked
like a "moon" crater....
                                               I know I have quite a few
questions here but I decided to put them all in one post.....
