SS> Hi there Just wondering if anyone out there would recommend homeschooling
SS> to a attention deficit hyperactive child. I have a almost five year old
SS> and have been considering it. Let me know what you think...
Lots of parents prefer to homeschool their ADHD children. My own daughter is
probably ADHD but after prayer and meditation on her condition and its effect
on me, I was inspired to put her in public school for at least two years
because I need a break!! (I'm a single mom and her behavior has been hard
or
me to deal with, not to mention highly stressful.) As it turned out, my
inspiration (from meditation) has proven to be very good for us. She has
een
placed in an excellent special ed school for emotionally disturbed and ADHD
children and she /loves/ it very, very much. I did get to be the one to
each
her how to read (before she started school) but am grateful to the teachers
for all the help they have given her.
I'm homeschooling her younger brother who is now six and in first grade. My
daughter is in second grade, and I may homeschool her in the future if her
behavior improves. I used to run a homebased business and am planning to
start it up again, and it was her behavior that made it impossible for me
to continue, before. I'm not going to be willing to keep her at home,
schooldays, if she will not cooperate and be courteous to my clients.
Anyhow, you have plenty of company if you feel that home is the best place
or
your ADHD child to learn. Many people feel that their school districts don't
provide adequate situations and education for them; I think I'm just lucky to
be in one school district that does.
