subject: [C] Moderator

From: Bob Stout

Tom Torfs hasn't been acting as moderator since the link-up with the
SNIPPETS C mailing list. He just sent me a heads-up since the echolist
entry was about to expire. He renewed it, listing me as moderator. I don't
have any great problems with that, but feel that for the good of the List
there should be a real honest-to-goodness Fidonet moderator as well.

The last I knew, the backbone required a moderator for all EchoMail
conferences, but this may have changed - I haven't been active on Fidonet
in over a decade. In any case, based on my past experience as moderator, it
occurs to me that moderation on the Fidonet side of the fence would best be
served by a moderator with a Fidonet point address. For obvious reasons, I
believe the moderation rules should be the same for both sides of the fence
with the two moderators coordinating as necessary. Based on the current
traffic volume, the need for moderation appears to be light at best.

I'd like the opinion of others on this. If it's agreed that we should have
a separate moderator for the Fidonet side of things, I'd like to begin the
nomination/election process. If no one cares, one way or the other, or if
no one accepts a nomination, I'll leave things as they are. Let me know.

BTW, this is an on-topic discussion for the group...
