I had surgery for gallstones last year (too many stones for ultrasound to be 
effective, or so they told me).  From what I hear, the pain from kidney 
stones is even worse than gallstones -- yeow!
 
I know how nerve-wracking it can be dealing with all this stuff --
 trying to find out what treatment is best -- dealing with the nuisance 
of ill-health -- it's no fun at all.  Hope everything works out --
 I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
