Andr‚s,
Recently I don't use a DOS-exit in my program, but it had such a gate.
In the program the following lines did the job:
run cls
run command /K PROMPT .$H$Q$G Temp. DOS-gate: Type EXIT to return
$L$Q$_$_$P$G
The first line cleanes the DOS-screen.
The second line shows the text "Temp. DOS-gate: Type EXIT to return"
verytime
a command is typed. The prompt is shown 2 lines below this text.
The following PROMPT-command's are shown in the "DOS-version" I use
(Win 4.00.1111) after PROMPT /?
$Q	"="-sign
$$	Dollar-sign
$T	time
$D	date
$P	station & path
$V	windows-version
$N	current station
$G	">"-sign
$L	"<"-sign
$B	"|"-sign
$H	backspace (delete preceding character)
$E	Escape-code (27)
$_	start on the next line
Hopes it works for you.
Greetings from Holland,
Marc
