Henry Hyde of Illinois said it best on one of the Sunday talk shows. There
is insufficient support from DEMOCRATS in the Senate to result in a
conviction. Ergo, it would be a waste of the House's time to introduce a
bill of impeachment. Yeah, they'd get the bill passed but would lose the
trial. Think of the bill as an indictment.
You can get the SOB indicted, but convicted? Not unless it's so outrageous
that it shocks the sensabilities of the Democrats in the Senate. THIS
incident, IF true, is sufficiently agregious so as to result in a
conviction.
